50th Anniversary Celebration of Wa School for the Deaf, the Contribution of Pro-NDC Whatsapp Platform "Meet Ur MP's/ fmr MP's n MMDCE's" Platform

Wa school for the deaf was established in 1969. The school is located in the outskirt of the Wa town. It is directly opposite Wa Senior High School. Wa School for the deaf serves as the only school in the Upper West Region which admits students who are hearing impaired across the length and breadth of the country. The numerical strength of the school currently stands at 262 students.

As the school marks its 50th anniversary, plans are far advanced towards the celebration of this milestone. Among these plans is the launching of the anniversary.

Today, 23rd March, 2019 happens to be the day for the launching of the 50th Anniversary. This took place at the school premises. The dignitaries present were the Most Rev. Bishop Baawour, members of the regional house of chiefs, Pro-NDC Whatsapp platform, "Meet Ur MP's/ fmr MP's n MMDCE's", and staff of the school.

On this special day of the school for the deaf, a Pro-NDC platform christened "Meet Ur MP's/fmr MP's and MMDCE's", participated in this special day of this school. In fact, this was the only political party that honoured the invitation. No other political party honoured this all important programme. This is significant enough to showcasing how committed and honest the NDC is to undoing discrimination against the disables in this country.

As part of our social responsibilities and objectives as a purpose driven NDC Whatsapp platform, we made donation of several varied items valued Ghc4000 to the school. We further bought the anniversary cloth to support them in advertising the programme.

We did this to show the love and care we have for our younger brothers and sisters who are hearing impaired. This further reflects the all inclusiveness the NDC as a party stands for. The NDC party does not discriminate against the disables this is the reason why it is the first political party in the history of Ghana to have appointed a visually impaired person, Hon. Seidu Danaa as a minister. It can be inferred that the NDC believes strongly in the famous saying, "disability is not inability". It is on this score that we socialised and solidarised with our younger brothers and sisters in this school to inspire and give them hope.

Quite apart from that members of this Pro-NDC platform went ahead to play a football match with these students and that was the excited part of the programme.

During the programme, opportunity was given to representative of "Meet Ur MP's/ fmr MP's n MMDCE's" to say a word. Below is the speech presented by this noble and purpose driven Whatsapp platform.

A SPPECH DELIVERED AT THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE WA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF ON THE 23RD MARCH, 2019

Madam Chairperson, Headmaster, Our Lord Bishop of Catholic Wa diocese, Most Rev. Richard Baawour, Representive of Regional Director of Education, Invited Guest, Staff and Students of the School for the Deaf, members of NDC present, Media, Ladies and Gentlemen. As members of a Pro-NDC WhatsApp platform by name "Meet Ur MPs /fmr MPs and MMDCEs", we are grateful for the honour done us to be part of this 50th anniversary celebration of the school for the deaf.

As social democrats, NDC holds people living with disabilities in high esteem and as a result we were the first political party in Ghana to appoint a person living with disability to the high office of a minister, in the person of Hon. Dr. Seidu Danaa.

In this direction, we are here today to socialize and to solidarise with our younger brothers and sisters and to add our voice to the fact that disability is not inability.

We will also wish to state that we will continue to collaborate and give support to the school in whatever way possible to help our brothers and sisters living with disabilities to realize their dreams. We are very hopeful that the next NDC government to be led by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama will give a facelift to the Wa School for the Deaf and we are assuring you that persons living with disability will continue to be part of the NDC family and future government.

As part of our support for the launching of your 50th anniversary celebration, we are donating assorted items valued at GHC 4000.00, which include:

Two (2) sewing machines

One (1) set of weaving machine

Three hundred (300) bowls with lids

Three hundred (300) cups with lids

Three hundred (300) exercise books

Two (2) footballs

Twenty-five (25) cartons of soft drinks and

Two (2) boxes of biscuits

In conclusion, Madam Chairperson, the door of the NDC is still opened and the school should not hesitate to knock on it for support when the need arises.

Thank you very much.

ON THE MATTER OF GHANA’S HISTORY, THE NATURE OF BUSIA-DANQUAH-DOMBO TRADITION APPROBATING AND REPROBATING

ON THE MATTER OF GHANA'S HISTORY, THE NATURE OF BUSIA-DANQUAH-DOMBO TRADITION APPROBATING AND REPROBATING

The passage of the executive instrument on the declaration of 7th January, 4th August and 1st of July, as Constitutional day holiday, Founders' day holiday and commemorative day respectively, and the walk out of the minority is needless and an attempt to rewrite this country's history on the altar of parochial interest and political expediency of the Busia-Danquah-Dombo political hegemony.

I personally do not think the change is any way worthwhile, because our history as a people has been consistent from colonialism to date. I will like to indulge you, readers, in two perspectives with regard to our very straight forward history in this country. That is, documentary sources and non-documentary sources in relation to this matter. From both Non- documentary (verbal accounts pass on from one generation to another) and Documentary (written accounts), our history from 1947-1960 is not skewed in this regard. Since both sources attribute individual contributions towards our independence largely, if not completely, to a single individual by name Nkrumah.

It is equally important to state that our history recognizes the contributions of the individuals of the UGCC. It is against this backdrop that every member of the group is named after a known landmark in this country.

Marking. 1st of July, a day Ghana gained total independence, a commemorative day while marking 7th January as constitutional day holiday, is even more bizarre. The same people that outlawed the celebrations of June 4th and 31st of December as public holidays on the 1st of June 2001, are the same people who without principle are talking about recognizing actors and events in our history. It is without equivocation that the events of June 4th and 31st December culminated to longest Republican constitution, the 4th republic. Therefore, if the argument has always been recognizing events and actors in our history, then there is no principle in outlawing June 4th and 31st December and celebrating a constitutional day holiday.

The needless demonization of Dr. Nkrumah and his legacies by the Busia-Danquah and recently, Dombo tradition, and the lack of principle in their accounts of the history must ceased. Indeed Nkrumah never Dies.

PRESS RELEASE ON THE STATURE OF UDS AND THE DEMAND FOR AUTONOMY OF THE WA CAMPUS.

The Upper West Regional Communication Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress has finally taken their bite on the happenings in the Wa UDS brouhaha. Below is the full press release

PRESS RELEASE ON THE STATURE OF UDS AND THE DEMAND FOR AUTONOMY OF THE WA CAMPUS.
8th November, 2018.

Ladies and gentlemen from the media, we are grateful for your prompt response to our call for attention, as we speak on a burning issue that is very dear to the hearts of the Chiefs and all the natives of the Upper West Region.

The events of the past two weeks pertaining to the stature of the Wa Campus of the University for Development Studies are very serious issues that cannot be swept under the carpet without any conscious efforts at addressing them or finding appropriate ways of mitigating the concerns that, the youth and chiefs have raised.

We wish to applaud the Chiefs, Youth and teeming crowd that poured out on the streets last week to peacefully protest against all latent steps that are taken either consciously or unconsciously to run down all gains that have been made as far as the Wa Campus of UDS is concern.

We unreservedly associate ourselves with the clarion call to halt all surreptitious maneuverings that are targeted at dismembering the numerical strength of the Wa Campus as well as the removal of all bottle necks associated with the timely release of subventions for the running of the Wa Campus and the completion of infrastructural development.

Ladies and gentlemen, the UDS was established by PNDC Law 279 as a potent growth pole to blend the academic world with that of practical community life situation, so as to provide the leverage for the development of Northern Ghana in particular and the country as a whole.

There is no gainsay that, the institution has been very pivotal in the poverty alleviation drive, the enhancement of tertiary education as well as contributing to the course of national integration, as many students travel from all parts of this country to study in its campuses.
It is unfortunate though that, prevailing circumstances at the University defeats the principles that occasioned the Multi Campus system of the University, where social science programs were designated to the Wa Campus.

The silent dismembering of faculties in the Wa Campus and the creation of rival departments on other campuses to run social science programs has occasioned the situation where the Wa Campus is gradually becoming a pale shadow of its original stature.
The ripple repercussions are enormous as businesses are running to a halt, the process of national integration is hindered and the opportunities to access tertiary education is limited.

This gloomy situation is the genesis of a public uproar from the Chiefs and people of the Upper West, against the University management and principal officers of the University who are accused of making decisions that weakens the numerical strength of Wa Campus in addition to paying no attention to the infrastructural needs of the Wa Campus. This has since underpinned the call for the conversion of the Wa Campus into an autonomous University so as to provide the enhanced opportunities for tertiary education and poverty alleviation.

In sync with The Government of Ghana’s agenda to set up autonomous public Universities to serve as incubators of development and public enlightenment, Government under His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama set up the Dr. Christine Amoako-Nuamah’s Committee in April, 2015 to see to the conversion of the three campuses of UDS to autonomous Universities.
This decision was at the behest of the demand for social justice by the Chiefs and people of the Upper West Region.

After broad consultation and rigorous background checks, the Committee recommended the Wa Campus to be granted autonomy with its new name as University for Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), the Navrongo Campus also granted autonomy and renamed as University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), whilst the Tamale and Nyankpala Campuses remains as University for Development Studies (UDS).

The interim report on this matter was submitted to Government in May, 2016 and the final report submitted in August,2016.

The report had received cabinet approval by November, 2016 and was awaiting implementation in September, 2017 when the appropriate legislation would have been created for it by the parliament of Ghana.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is sad that, the NDC lost the 2016 general election, resulting to a hold up on the completion of this noble social intervention, that per all indications, will occasion a giant leap in the educational and economic infrastructure of the Upper West Region.

The absolute silence of the Nana Addo’s regime on the continuation of the conversion process, puts the project in limbo with the associated upheavals and public tensions that are arising. In the midst of these distasteful circumstances and the disappointments that the people are enduring after the project seems stagnated for the past two years, we wish to make the following pronouncements:

That the call for autonomous Universities out of UDS is a call for social justice and must be treated expeditiously without further delay or recourse to any political considerations.
That the erstwhile administration under John Dramani Mahama has initiated the process and had almost completed almost every documentary process that is needed in the conversion.
Governance is a continum and His Excellency President Nana Addo should endeavor to complete the implementation of this project.
That government should show adequate commitment to the process by giving clear timelines regarding the conversion process.
That Government must show sufficient commitment to the course of Tertiary education in the Upper West Region, by completing all the stalled infrastructural projects that are currently dotted around the Wa Campus.

That government must intervene in ensuring the expeditious release of subventions from the Central Administration to the Wa Campus for the smooth running of the Campus.
Government must be fair and firm in the judicious allocation of the largesse of the state to all regions in the country.

Conclusively, we wish to reiterate our firm demand on His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and the NPP Government, to show good faith to the demand for social justice by rising up to task to continue with the conversion process that had gotten to its pinnacle before Ghanaians ceded power over to them. Thank you.

Upper West NDC Regional Youth Organiser, Mr. Nicodemus N.B.D Dery, Rebrands Youth Front

Upper West NDC Regional Youth Organiser, Mr. Nicodemus N.B.D Dery, Rebrands Youth Front

Football, in other words called soccer by the British, is one of the games that is highly patronise by Ghanaians across all levels. It is one of those games serving as a projector to magnifying nationalism and patriotism in Ghana. Football in Ghana, serves as an antidote cum panacea to lots of people's sicknesses, emotional and psychological torture. It is a double-edge sword. It improves the health of the people and also brings peace and unity among the people. The sense of togetherness and oneness will ignite in the youth, a deep spirited defense of the party at the constituency and branch levels.

Others do refer to it as a game of peace and unity. It is a game which brings people of all walks of life together. Football brings people of varied political orientations together. People of different religious doctrines, different ethnic background among other major divisions that are characterised by glaring disunity and its associated destructive agents are able to sit together, talk to one another, kind courtesy the almighty football.

Football is also seen as a unifier, peace pipe smoker and more importantly a patronising catalyzer that fast-track the amelioration of all psychological and emotional problems.

The unrepentant and unflinching quest of the Upper West Regional Youth Organiser of NDC, Mr. Nicodemus N.B.D Dery, to fast-tracking the party's re-organisation exercise  towards victory in the 2020 general election, donated two footballs each to every constituency youth organiser in all the eleven constituencies in the region. He also donated one football each to TEIN presidents in the various tertiary institutions across the region. This and many more interventions will be put in place to rebranding the youth front into a formidable one for the tasks ahead.

His unconditional preference for football to other games is not because football is his favourite game but rather, it is the game which so many people are enthused in thus its incomparable speed to bringing multitude of people more especially the youth, together. The magnitude of love for football by people across the country is beyond measure. It's therefore within reason to advance an argument that football is one of the best games one can use to speedily reconcile and re-organise people in preparation to carrying home their agenda.

It is indeed without any gainsay that every vibrant and enviable  political party thrives on the youth in the country to outsmart its political opponents. The old and most commonly used adage, sound mind reside in a healthy body comes into sharp focus when our youth commander thought of swift ways of re-organising, rejuvenating and enlivening the youth front to establishing a formidable youth front for victory in the 2020 election.

Since the youth become the lubricant upon which every visionary and formidable political party runs on, our humble and intelligent regional youth commander deemed it worthwhile investing implicitly in the health of the party's youth across the ranks and files of the party in the Upper West Region. This initiative will strengthen the youth front and the party at all levels. I elephantly, not the NPP elephant, laud his brilliant efforts to contributing in no small way to the re-organisation exercise that is patching up all the wounds that led to the defeat of the party in the 2016 election.

In concenthused I suggest to all NDC regional youth organisers including other leaders of the party to learn from the humble and smart Upper West NDC regional youth commander, Mr. Nicodemus N.B.D Dery to step up their games.

NANDOM NDC ON THE PATH TO VICTORY IN 2020, JOHN MAHAMA PROPHESIED

NANDOM NDC ON THE PATH TO VICTORY IN 2020, JOHN MAHAMA PROPHESIED

Our elders do say that he who preaches peace carries peace around. On Monday, 8th October, 2018, H.E John Dramani Mahama visited delegates in Nandom and delivered a message of peace to the good people of Nandom.

His one week tour of the Upper West Region was loudly and overwhelmingly received by the people in the region. JM's visit to the Nandom constituency was colourful and exceptional as delegates and other groups welcome him with varieties of cultural display such as the "Bawaa Dance" and some other inspirational local songs composed by our vociferous regional communication officer and our constituency women organiser together with her women groups, that portray JDM as a peace loving person and the only candidate who has all it takes to win us power in 2020.

Party sympathisers,  party loyalists and other persons stormed the venue with lots of excitement and joy to see JDM.

That was a loud signal the people sent to John Mahama on their unflinching quest to voting him as the next president of Ghana come 2020. It is abundantly clear that Ghanaians are fed up with the ruling government. Responsible citizens are unable to wait any longer for the return of JDM to power. He is a leader who can develop a practical sense of imaginative vision, rather than emotional corporeal vision and to advance the  course of development in our country without discrimination. John Dramani Mahama has unmatched and uncommon leadership qualities.

His excellency, John Dramani Mahama could not hide his joy and happiness upon meeting delegates and former government appointees. His excitement came about as he saw signs of unity and togetherness between factions that were created during the primaries in the last election. This happened after the former MP, Dr. Benjamin Kuubour said that the past has already passed and he has resolved to work with everybody to recapture power. When Dr. Kuubour was given the platform he said, "the past is past and we have resolved to work together to recapture power from the NPP". This statement of his attracted a very loud and long applauds from the delegates.

He therefore, excitedly expressed his immeasurable happiness over the resolution of some differences in the party in Nandom constituency as well as Lawra constituency. He unreservedly encouraged delegates to work hard so that we can collectively and in unison, take back power from the "super incompetent government".
After expressing his happiness, he told the delegates and the people around,  the special relationship that existed between Nandom and the NDC. He said, "Nandom has special relation with NDC dating back in the days of the late Naa Polkuu who played pivotal roles in the establishment of NDC in Nandom". This statement brought more rejuvenation to the delegates and sympathisers of the party gathered.

Stating his reason for visiting Nandom, JM humbly and in all sincerity, told delegates that the power belongs to them hence his presence in Nandom was to present himself to the branch executives for votes as our flagbearer for elections 2020. "Power in the party is now transferred to the grassroot which is why I have come to present myself to the branch executives". This attracted an overwhelming exciting claps and some noise from the hall and outside as well. These are the indicators that are pointing to the fact that indeed, the grassroot is in dire need of the coming back of JM as well as winning back our seat.

Moving forward, John Mahama tasked delegates to vote for credible and competent candidate who has an untainted integrity and can win the 2020 elections resoundingly. He said, "as a party we must go into 2020 elections with a candidate who can win us power". He further pleaded with delegates to vote massively for him as flagbearer for 2020 elections.

His excellency John Dramani Mahama hastened to add that drivers are suffering, teachers are suffering, nurses, teacher trainees etc are suffering under the super incompetent government. "Ghanaians are experiencing super hardship under the super incompetent government".

He charged delegates, all party fatefuls and sympathisers to work hard to liberate Ghanaians from the super hardship we are in now. "We have a duty to work to safe Ghana from the super hardship, the insecurity, the unwarranted dismissal of Ghanaians from their jobs because they are perceived to be NDC, the intolerance of the NPP government that is getting out of hand".

John Dramani Mahama further made a clarion call on this super incompetent government to complete the Lawra-Nandom-Hamile road which was commenced by the NDC government but has been abandoned by the super incompetent Nana Addo-led government. "Government should complete the Lawra-Nandom-Hamile road or we will fix it when the NDC wins the 2020 elections". He concluded by saying, "it is only NDC that gives Ghanaians proper peace and security".

The Vision of The Visionary, Hon. Kale Cesar Deputy General Secretary Aspirant.

The Vision of The Visionary, Hon. Kale Cesar Deputy General Secretary Aspirant.
Our elders do say that a chicken that will grow into a productive cock is spotted the very day it is hatched. It is against this backdrop, I prepare this appetizing, "vulable", literary meal power packed with all the natural ingredients you can think of to espouse and carry home, the vision of the impeccable Deputy General Secretary Aspirant, Hon. Kale Cesar.
But before I deeply nose-dive into the genesis and pathogenesis of this young man, it is worthy of note that Hon. Kale Cesar is not being eulogised because he is an aspirant rather, this literary meal is a true reflection of his persona.
In fact, it is an undoubted truth that people who have vision never die even after their mortal passage from this life. Hon. Kale Cesar, the National Deputy General Secretary Aspirant, has proven beyond every reasonable doubt his unquestionable competence regarding party's work across the length and breadth of this country.
This is a young man who has put up a deep spirited defense on the airwaves and other media outlets on issues of our great party, NDC. He is indeed an icon and an epitome worthy of emulation by all and sundry. This is a grassroot man, very industrious, charitable and above all a workaholic. Coupled with the above enviable attributes, Hon. Kale Cesar is an indefatigable young man who has never relented in his penchant to fighting for the party. He has indeed demonstrated his undying love, loyalty and commitment for the party since 1992.
It is evident that Hon. Kale Cesar has contributed in no small way to the progress and development of the party and that has resulted in his sharp rise in the party. His uncommon intellectual sagacity coupled with humility and dexterity leads to his unabated rise on the party's ladder.
Hon. Kale Cesar, as a grassroot man, was a branch executive, TEIN executive, regional secretary, regional minister and a presidential staffer. All these happened within a twinkling of an eye. This should tell you the calibre of person he is. He indeed deserves these accolades. Cesar's contributions to the party during all these years have been monumental. The legacies he left behind in all these years keep ringing in the ears of many party members.
This is the same young man soliciting your votes to deputise the general secretary of our great party. Hon. Kale Cesar is still characterised by untainted integrity, humility and workaholic. His impeccable records are revisited daily by delegates as he moves round the country campaigning.
The general vision of Cesar for this position is to complement effectively, the efforts and objectives of the General Secretary in respect of the efficient management and general administration of the NDC party to be stronger enough capable of winning 2020 general election and beyond, which is in line with Article 26 of the party's constitution.
Specifically, Hon. Kale Cesar will serve as a strategic anchor to the General Secretary's administration. He will also serve as a patronising catalyst to bring about improvement in the party at the National level.
Additionally, Hon. Kale Cesar wants to help the National Secretariat to build the capacities of the regional and constituency party scribes to be well equipped in the management of the party at all levels of the party.
Last but not least, Hon. Cesar when given the nod, will assist the National Executive Committee to develop a comprehensive welfare system for party executives at the national, regional and constituency levels.
The above qualities and vision among others make Hon. Kale Cesar stand tall among his contenders in the race of the Deputy General Secretary's portfolio. It is therefore within every reason to postulate that Hon. Kale Cesar is the best option for the Deputy General Secretary's position. His rich experiences anchored on his never-ending desire to work for the party will give a face-lift and satisfaction to the party and its entire membership if he is given the nod to complement the General Secretary.
A VOTE FOR HON. KALE CESAR IS A VOTE FOR COMPETENCE, TRANSFORMATION, ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPERANCY.

NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS UPPER WEST REGIONAL COMMUNICATION  SECRETARIAT

PRESS RELEASE

2nd October, 2018

NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS

UPPER WEST REGIONAL COMMUNICATION  SECRETARIAT
We have observed with dismay the unveiling stories that have followed the distribution of expired oil and maggot/weevil infested rice by His Excellency Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Whilst we are yet to fathom why the second gentleman of the land could be this heartless towards vulnerable citizens, we are nonetheless amazed that in his usual pride and arrogance, he has failed to accept responsibility and humbly apologize for same.
We feel scandalized by the feverish attempt of NADMO to water down the magnitude of their ineptitude, divert the attention of the whole nation and exonerate the Vice President who by all indication has drawn the Presidency into disrepute through his action.
In the wake of the shameless attempt by NADMO, the NPP and the Presidency to cover up government’s tacit attempt to dispose off expired consumables by sharing them to vulnerable Upper Westners, we wish to profoundly state that:
1. The expired goods were brought to the region here by His Excellency the Vice President on Saturday 22nd September, 2018. It was for the sake of conveying those unwholesome goods that, the Vice President came with three (3) aircrafts.
2. The suspension of the NADMO Regional Store Keeper is akin to the situation of “a lizard eating pepper for the toad to sweat”. The real person to be held responsible for this near fatal incident is His Excellency the Vice President. It was his ineptitude and incompetence that exposed our vulnerable citizens to the hazards of eating expired food together with their attendant poisonous substances.
3. The refusal of the Presidency to render an unqualified apology and NADMO’s refusal to heed the call to immediately secure enhanced medical attention for those who suffered the externalities of eating the poisonous substance, transposes our Presidency as a heartless entity that wouldn’t mind ridding on the vulnerability of poor citizens for political glory. It equally presents our NADMO outfit as a set up in disaster in itself as it is evident that, such an entity has no clue of what proactivity in disaster management is.
4. The committee set up to investigate the unveiling circumstances is only a “rubber stamp” put up to salvage the dwindling image of the Vice President and perhaps, to attempt to cover up the disgrace the Vice President drew to himself. We expect nothing but a tea sipping jamboree that will further deplete our lean national coffers at the expense of the tax payer.
5. Rather, the nation needs a forensic audit of all NADMO stores across the country to redeem such stores from any unwholesome products. We insist that, NADMO should be held accountable for the cost of all expired products as their failure to be proactive has caused financial lost to the state.
Conclusively, we wish to admonish the general public to ignore stories circulating that, the NDC procured expired oil and rice to draw the Vice President’s name into disrepute. We also doubt the claims that, only six boxes of expired oil got mistakenly mixed up with the oil they intended to distribute. It is the naked truth that, the Vice President brought those consumables from Accra in three aircrafts. He should explain the purpose of the three aircrafts here in Wa if not for bringing those products from Accra. It is very shameful that, the Vice President will deliberately shelve his own misconduct and allow a poor NADMO store keeper to suffer for his ineptitude and incompetence. We entreat him to be bold enough to take responsibility for his incompetence and also show respect to our Chiefs, opinion leaders, flood victims and ordinary natives, by rendering a profound apology for the mess he caused. Thank you.

Northern Star SHS Scores 83% In 2018 WASSCE

Northern Star SHS Scores 83% In 2018 WASSCE
Northern Star Senior High School in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West has scored 83% in the 20018 West African Secondary Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Out of 65 students presented, 54 of them passed in one or more of the subjects they sat for, with 4 students passing in all 8 subjects they sat.
In an interview with the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Saeed A. Faruk, he expressed gratitude to teachers for their commitment and dedication which resulted in the results produced. He equally thanked regional and municipal directors of education for posting staff to the school and always attending to the needs of the school.
The headmaster however said the results could be much better if they had gotten a qualified English Language teacher for the period. He therefore appealed for an English Language teacher for the school.
Northern Star SHS was established in 2012 by a community-based NGO in Wa Municipality known as Bambu Foundation, with the aim of augmenting the efforts of government in providing quality and accessible second cycle education to Junior High School graduates. In 2016, the school was absorbed by the Ghana Education Service as a public school.
The 2018 WASSCE is the first of the school since it became a public school.
The headmaster further called for infrastructural support from the government and benevolent bodies to enable them provide effective and efficient education to the students.

A PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE UPPER WEST REGIONAL COMMUNICATION SECRETARAIT OF NDC ON THE AFTERMATH OF THE DISTRIBUTION OF DISASTER ITEMS BY VICE PRESIDENT, HIS EXCELLENCY DR. MAHAMUDU BAWUMIA.

A PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE UPPER WEST REGIONAL COMMUNICATION SECRETARAIT OF NDC ON THE AFTERMATH OF THE DISTRIBUTION OF DISASTER ITEMS BY VICE PRESIDENT, HIS EXCELLENCY DR. MAHAMUDU BAWUMIA.

25TH September, 2018.
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen and thank you for responding to our call with such urgent attention.
Our hearts are heavy this afternoon as the prevailing circumstances within the governance in the country today, reinforces the age old perception of the divisiveness and the disdainful perception that, the NPP has consciously formed against the very hard working natives of the Upper West Region.
Saturday 22 September, 2018 will forever be remembered as it was the day His Excellency Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia entered our Region in Rambo style with three military aircrafts.
Our checks for the cause of the naked extravagance and overt display of opulence by our Vice President revealed he was in town to distribute relief items to our people who had suffered the externalities of torrential rains over the last three months.
Ladies and gentlemen, ordinarily, we all thought the Vice President was in town to exemplify the Age –Old Ghanaian moral etiquette of being each other’s keeper and offering solace for those who unfortunately are hit by distasteful circumstances such as the flooding that occurred in suburbs of our region. Little did we expect that our Vice President will exploit our vulnerability and use our times of grief to further his political whims and caprices.
Ladies and gentlemen, we had the shock of our lives when some of our kinsmen who had received disaster relief items realized that, the items they were given had expired and from all looks are unwholesome for human consumption. We are yet to come to terms with why our Vice President will choose to exacerbate the suffering of our people by exposing them to unquantifiable health challenges at a time they are grappling with pulling the pieces of their lives together after suffering a disaster.
We recall with a painful heart how HE Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (then running mate to the NPP) posited himself as one who was compassionate to the plight of the people of the Upper West Region. In his quest for power at that time, he responded to the plight of children in Kperisi, who were studying on the bare floor. He combed the nooks and crannies of this region and presented himself and his flag bearer as those who would prioritize our welfare and ensure the region was served its fair share of the national cake. We are extremely shocked that the reward to the people of Kperisi and the whole Upper West after winning power is to return to the region with expired disaster relief items after the show of benevolence in opposition. Aba, Our Son H.E Dr. Bawumia.
Today the love for kingly power and its associated glamour has blinded Dr Bawumia to our plight and has further hardened his heart to the extent that, he serves our people with expired food items at their times of vulnerability and sincere need.
Ladies and gentlemen, in other news, we read that still on same visit; Dr Bawumia gave out other relief items in addition to an amount of GHC 5000.00 to victims of floods in his home northern region. The question we ask is whether by this singular act, the Vice President seeks to consummate the saying that ‘Some Ghanaians are more Ghanaian than others’.
We are calling on the Vice President, His Excellency President Akuffo Addo on whose behalf Dr Mahamudu Bawumia donated expired consumables to our people and indeed, the entire NPP machinery within the region, to come out with contrite hearts and apologize profusely to the good people of the Upper West Region and particularly the disaster victims whom this particular act has left in greater pains.
Ladies and gentlemen, in the midst of these unpalatable happenings, we wish to make the following recommendations;
1. The Hon. Regional Minister and his Deputy will have to explain to the general public how they misled the Vice President into visiting our people with such a disastrous intervention in the time of disaster
2. The Regional NADMO Boss must be relieved of his position as it is clear that, his unwatchfulness is a threat of potential disaster upon our people.
3. With immediate effect, government should remedy the embarrassment the Vice President caused her by immediately coming to the aid of the disaster victims in a dignified and proper manner.
4. Government should do a wider search of the disaster victims and add all those who were excluded on partisan basis.
We admonish the NPP and its appointees to remember that, governance is a whole enterprise in which players must be mindful to eschew pretense, hero worship, vexatious populism. This government must also endeavor to be guided by the fact that, charity must be guided by the principles of truth, compassion and humility. We call on Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP to stop exploiting the vulnerability of our people for their own whims and caprices.
Thank you.
